Yeah right!

So, Alyssa got some medicine today that she has to take twice a day with cereal. YEAH RIGHT!! (Remember the previous post about what she thinks about cereal?!)

So...

After avoiding the fact as long as I could, I got my courage up, strapped my armor on and set out to do the impossible. Here is our 10 step program to success...

Step 1: Mix up cereal and medicine. Try and trick baby by making it mostly liquid.

Step 2: Strip baby down to her diaper (for obvious reasons...refer to previous post!) : )

Step 3:
Location #1...bumbo chair with bib.
Method #1...baby spoon.
Result: 100% of food and medicine spit out.

Step 4:
Location #2...Mommy holding baby.
Method #1...baby spoon.
Result: Baby squirms and food gets all over mommy.

Step 5:
Location #3...bouncy seat.
Method #1...baby spoon.
Result: Baby squirms and food gets all over bouncy seat.

Step 6:
Location #3...bouncy seat.
Method #2...mommy wises up and puts the food in a bottle (it was thinned quite a bit)
Result: Baby loves sucking on the bottle...however no food comes out. Rice granules are too big. (ARGH!...start running out of ideas)

Step 7:
Go and get a sippy cup...hey why not?...look at the cup and decide that is a bad idea.

Step #8:
Location#4: floor...maybe with her head all the way back, it will slide right down?
Method...#1...baby spoon
Result: baby keeps rolling over and laughing.

Step #9:
Mommy is about to admit defeat...when all of a sudden...light bulb moment!...THE MEDICINE SYRINGE. Alyssa is used to taking medicine that way, so why not try the cereal in it!

Step #10:
Location: floor...with Mommy holding baby's neck up. Added bonus...dog shows up so baby watches dog instead of rolling over
Method: Syringe
Results: SUCCESS! (I just hope there was enough medicine that actually got in her...oh well)

So now we get to do that twice a day. Hopefully for just a couple of days. Poor baby! (poor mommy!) : ) I'm hoping maybe she'll warm up to the taste of the cereal and then I can just give it to her normally.

Now...off to do the load of laundry and load of dishes we created with this little fiasco!

  1. Poor both of you! I feel for you both. Have you considered giving her a different kind of baby cereal? Have you tasted the rice cereal? Maybe it really tastes terrible. I think I gave an oatmeal cereal to the girls. I just can't remember what it was called. Hope you solve the problem so it doesn't remain one. Love to you all. Just can't wait to get to see you all.
