Isn't She Lovely?!!!

It's hard to believe that it has been just over a week since we found out that we are having a baby girl. It is nice to feel more of a connection to the baby knowing what gender she is. One of the first things that Andrew and I both said was that it is so nice to be able to refer to the baby as "she" instead of "it". It just seems more natural...and I like how it portrays to others that even though she is unborn, she is a real person already.

A lot of people have been asking about names. What a job Adam had in the Garden of Eden naming everything! I do not envy him at all! : ) It's hard enough just picking one name! We have been narrowing down the list, but will probably not set anything in stone until the baby arrives.

I relived my college days of video editing (I was an electronic media communications major) and made a short one minute video clip of our sonogram last week. It's amazing to see how much bigger she is since our last sonogram. Other than finding out that the baby is a girl, I was most amazed to see the definition of her spine, ribs and knees. We even have a still picture where you can see her upper lip sticking out like she is practicing sucking. Most of the time her arms were moving around above her head which you can see at the very beginning of the video. I was joking with Andrew because he has been known to still enjoy sleeping with his arms above his head. She is taking after her daddy already! : )

Turn up the volume on the speakers and enjoy!

Having a "yes" face

I have always enjoyed people watching. I guess this somehow developed over the years and eventually lead to a degree in Communication. One of my favorite classes was interpersonal communication. It is fascinating to me how people react to each other.

With that in mind, I was quite intrigued today by this quote that I came across reminding me how not only are people always watching, and I should be a good testimony to the Lord at all times, but even my facial expressions reveal to others my heart attitude. So I ask you, do you have a "yes face?"

Charles Swindoll tells a story reported by Dr. Karl Menninger about the importance of "yes faces":

"During his days as president, Thomas Jefferson and a group of companions were traveling across the country on horseback. They came to a river which had left its banks because of a recent downpour. The swollen river had washed the bridge away. Each rider was forced to ford the river on horseback, fighting for his life against the rapid currents. The very real possibility of death threatened each rider, which caused a traveler who was not part of their group to step aside and watch. After several had plunged in and made it to the other side, the stranger asked President Jefferson if he would ferry him across the river. The president agreed without hesitation. The man climbed on, and shortly thereafter the two of them made it safely to the other side. As the stranger slid off the back of the saddle onto dry ground, one in the group asked him, "Tell me, why did you select the president to ask this favor of?" The man was shocked, admitting he had no idea it was the president who had helped him. "All I know," he said, "is that on some of your faces was written the answer 'No,' and on some of them was the answer 'yes.' His was a 'Yes' face."
