New Definition for Stay at Home Mom

Well, I have found a new definition for the term "stay at home mom". ...or more accurately "stay at home mom-to-be."

It all started on Monday night when I began experiencing some minor contractions. They lasted through the night, so I called the doctor in the morning. He sent me to the hospital for some monitoring where I told the nurse that I thought I was having contractions about every 15 minutes. Turns out it was actually every 2 minutes. After many tests and some medicine, the contractions were under control by Tuesday evening. I had to stay overnight for observation, but was dismissed in the morning with orders to take medicine every 6 hours and be on bed rest for the duration of the pregnancy. ...so for about the next 7 - 10 weeks.

God is good. We are thankful that the medicine seems to be working and that I am able to be at home and not in the hospital. Amazingly, on Monday at work I had finished writing out a 40 page training document for whoever will take my position there...and this past weekend I had finished doing some projects around the house that I really wanted to get done. Andrew set me up nicely in our study/living room for during the day. We have a pull out couch and our TV is run through a separate computer with a wireless keyboard, so I have easy access to the Internet and computer while I am laying down. Now we are just figuring out what the coming days are going to look like. I am going to try and do some work from home, so it will certainly be nice to have something to do. I have come up with a little bit of a schedule that I'm going to try out today and see how it goes (all things I can do from the bed of course).

Anyway, a little bit of change in our lives...but we are thankful for the skilled nurses and doctors at the hospital and the great care that we received there...that the baby is doing well despite the circumstances...and for wonderful family and friends.

Hope you all have a fantastic day!

  3. Dear Julia,
Just sitting here thinking about you, and about what lies ahead for you. You and Andrew and baby Bennett are very much in my thoughts and prayers. I just skipped down to the posting below this one, and read it. I really enjoyed reading it, but knew that you might not catch this comment if I posted it below. Just wanted you to know we love you, and are confident that all will be well for the three of you.
