Count Your Many Blessings
Well, I woke up this morning at 6:00 to take my medicine and was immediately thankful to the Lord. Why? Because for the first time in 3 days I didn't think I was going to have to call the doctor and go back to the hospital because of continuing contractions. Once in the middle of the night and twice in the morning, I have had regular contractions that have lasted about an hour to an hour and a half (just at the point...ok slightly past the point where I've been told to call the doctor...you should hear me barganing with Andrew..."Just 15 minutes more, please?").
So, that started me thinking about many of the blessings I have to be thankful for though this time:
- That the doctors were able to get the contractions under control
- That I am at HOME on bed rest and not at the hospital
- That while I am on bed rest, I am not on "strict" bed rest and can still go shower, go to the kitchen to get a quick snack and even drive (short distances).
- That Starbucks has a drive through!
- That I have a pretty purple plant to look at that my father-in-law brought me.
- That the medicine I am taking does not have too many adverse side effects...just headaches. From what I have read, some of the other medications to control contractions have much worse side effects.
- That it's 100 degrees outside, and I have been ordered to stay inside my nice cool house.
- That I can read my Bible and listen to sermons online as much as I want without really worring about what time it is.
- That I am 30 weeks along...and while we want Baby Bennett to stay inside mommy a little longer, I am past the very critical danger zone. Now we just need those little lungs to develop.
- That Baby Bennett is slightly larger than average at about 4 pounds vs. 3.5.
- That my dogs sometimes come and cuddle up with me on the sofa bed (especially when I'm eating...funny how that works out).
- That because of elevated fluid level found during the sonogram while I was in the hospital this week, we get to take another look at Baby Bennett with another sonogram on Monday.
- That BOTH of my sisters are in town right now, and I'm at home to be able to see them!
- That we have wonderful family and friends that have been so helpful already.
- That 5 days have already whizzed by.
- That my wonderful husband has been a dream helping around the house, doing grocery shopping, laundry, yard work, and scolding me when I am doing things that I shouldn't be doing. : )
Well, that's certainly just the start of things to be thankful for. God is good, isn't He?!
